Release of prisoner of 30 years postponed for 11 months 2025-05-06 16:11:09   İZMİR – The release of İbrahim Tekin, a prisoner of 30 years in Şakran Closed Prison, was postponed for 11 months by prison authorities due to his refusal to accept the “remorse” condition.   The release of 67-year-old İbrahim Tekin, who has been held for 30 years in Şakran Closed Prison located in Aliağa, İzmir, was postponed by 11 months by the Administrative and Observation Board (İGK). The reason cited for the postponement was Tekin’s refusal to accept the “remorse” requirement. He was originally scheduled for release on May 11. Tekin suffers from goiter, shortness of breath, and hernia-related health problems.   Tekin was detained in Antalya in 1995 and later tried at the İzmir State Security Court (DGM). He was sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of “disrupt the unitiy and territorial integrity of the state".
