ANKARA – HDP Foreign Relations Committee member Nazmi Gür explained that they were subjected to ill-treatment in the Sincan Closed Prison where they were held during the Kobanê Case hearing and said, “We faced a hostile attitude.”
9th session of the 3rd hearing of the Kobanê Case, where 108 people, including the former Co-Chairs of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), members of the Central Executive Board (MYK) and executives, 24 of whom were detained are on trial was held today in Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court. HDP MPs and many people are at court monitoring the hearing.
Former Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel, HDP former Spokesperson Günay Kubilay, RTÜK member Ali Ürküt, former MP Emine Beyza Üstün, İbrahim Binici, former MP and TJA activist Ayla Akat Ata, Foreign Relations Commission member Nazmi Gür, new Term MYK members Alp Altınörs, Meryem Adıbelli, former party treasurer Zeki Çelik, former MYK members Pervin Oduncu, Ayşe Yağcı, Bircan Yorulmaz, Bülent Parmaksız, İsmail Şengül, Dilek Yağ and Sibel Akdeniz and writer Nezir Çakan are present in the courtroom.
Former HDP Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality former Co-Mayor Gültan Kışanak, and former MYK member Zeynep Ölbeci attended the hearing via Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) from the prisons where are held.
Released former MYK members Can Memiş, Berfin Özgü Köse and Cihan Erdal are also attending the hearing via Segbis.
Former MPs arrested pending trial Gülser Yıldırım, Aysel Tuğluk and Emine Ayna, and İmralı Delegation member Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Ahmet Türk, Gülfer Akkaya and Altan Tan did not attend the hearing. HDP former Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş did not attend the hearing because he is preparing a defense for his own trial while Kars Mayor Ayhan Bilgen did not attend due to health issues.
HE WERE HARASSED DURING THE BODY SEARCH
HDP Foreign Relations Commission member Nazmi Gür took the floor at the hearing, which started with identification. Gür talked about the ill-treatment they faced in prison.
Gür said, “We go through the x-ray device twice before we get out of the prison. But guards today searched us anyway. We were harassed during the body search. We dpn't accept this treatment. We protest this attitude.
We will convey it to the prison administration and the Ministry of Justice, but we do not accept this attitude of the prison administration and staff against human dignity. The attitude of the gendarmerie when they brought us here is not good either. We are mistreated. Prison staff tried to read the defenses we prepared, we do not accept this either."
The trial continues with Emine Ayna's defense.
