SIRNAK - Meryem Dayan, mother of Abdulgaffar Dayan, who lost his life after being hit by a Ranger type armored vehicle belonging to the bodyguard of the trustee that the elected mayor was replaced with, said: "Get these armored vehicles off the streets."
23-year-old Abdulgaffar Dayan, who was seriously injured when he was hit by a Ford Ranger type armored vehicle driven by the bodyguards of the trustee on January 24, in the Cizre district of Şırnak, lost his life in the hospital. Cizre Municipality made a statement about the incident on its official Twitter account 4 days later and stated that the vehicle belonged to the bodyguard of the trustee. Trustee Mehmet Tunç, who went to Dayan's house to pay his respects to the dead, left after the family accused him of killing their son.
CEMİLE'S COUSINE
It was learned that Abdulgaffar is the cousin of 10-year-old Cemile Çağırga, who was killed by the police during the 9-day curfew in Cizre in 2015 and kept in the freezer for days so that her lifeless body would not decay. Dayan, who lost his father in a work accident in 2017, was raised by his mother under difficult conditions.
Family members stated that Abdulgaffar died in the hospital he was taken to, but the authorities did not inform the family right away to avoid reactions.
Abdulgaffar's mother, Meryem Dayan (45), demanded that the driver of the vehicle be punished and that the armored vehicles to be banned from roaming the streets freely.
'MY SON WAS HARDWORKING'
Mother Dayan stated that her son is a very hardworking student and wanted to be a doctor. Noting that he was raised and educated under difficult conditions, Dayan said, “His father died in a work accident in 2017. Since he is a very hardworking student, they insisted that we enroll him in a course. I told them we didn't have the opportunity. But the teachers insisted that we sent him to a course and told that they would help. His teachers believed that he would be very successful. He was tutoring his friends. He was smart and hard working."
'I WAS CALLED 10 MINUTES AFTER HE LEFT'
Dayan described the day of the accident as follows: “The morning of the incident, he told me he had an exam and he left. I was called 10 minutes after he left. They told me he was hit by a car and taken to the hospital.
REMOVE ARMOURED VEHICLES OFF THE STREETS
Dayan criticised the fact that the armoured vehicles are roaming the streets freely and endangering people's lives in the region, mother Dayan said: "It was snowing at the time of the incident. Was the police vehicle going to fly that it was coming so fast? These drivers should not be driving anymore. We must be ensured that these people will be punished. They should find a solution to this. They have no right to inflict this pain on people. Get these armored vehicles off the streets. Those who caused the death of these children should be arrested and punished."
