DİYARBAKIR - Holding a joint press release, DTK, HDK, TJA, DBP and HDP criticised Turkish aggression and stated, "Partnership with the enemies of the Kurdish people will not bring anything to the Kurds."
Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Free Women's Movement (TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) held a joint press release at the DBP Headquarters regarding the recent political developments and Turkey's air strikes.
Speaking at the press release, DTK Co-Chair Berdan Öztürk stated that Turkey wants to revive ISIS in the North-East Syrian city of Hesekê, but that the intended goal has not been achieved. Öztürk stated that Makhmur, Shengal and Dérik were subjected to simultaneous air strikes and said, "As you know, Makhmur is a camp under the protection of the United Nations (UN). They also made a statement. We call on them to raise their voices. These attacks are unacceptable."
'PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ENEMIES OF THE KURDS WON'T MAKE THEM GAIN ANYTHING'
Referring to the meeting between Federated Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and AKP President Erdogan in Ankara one day after the attacks, Öztürk said, "Right after these attacks, Mr. Barzani met with the President at the Palace. Southern people and political parties should understand this well; The people of Makhmur, Shengal and Rojava have paid a great price and defeated ISIS. Today, if you are holding these meetings, we will say that these attacks were not independent from you; You are responsible. Having a meeting right after these massacres is unacceptable. Partnership with the enemies of the Kurds will not make you gain anything. We have to have a joint stance. We condemn these attacks. International institutions and organisations should also raise their voices."
PURPOSE OF ATTACKS
DBP Co-Chair Saliha Aydeniz stated that Turkey is targeting the gains of the Kurds with these attacks. Stating that Makhmur, Shengal and Derik were specifically targeted, Aydeniz said, "Because these 3 centers are the centers where great struggle is being fought against ISIS. It should be underlined that they were chosen on purpose. TUrkey hit Shengal 21 times. This is a genocide attempt. They are trying to finish what ISIS could not do. Shengal will never submit to these attacks. We condemn this attack and underline that we stand with the people of Shengal."
'THE TARGET IS THE GAINS OF KURDISTAN'
Pointing out that the people of Makhmur protected Hewlêr during the ISIS attacks in 2014 and that this was a gain of Kurdistan, Aydeniz said, "Therefore, this is an attack against the gains of Kurdistan. I commemorate our 121 martyrs who died for humanity in Haseké. The people of Kurdistan will not give up on their gains.
KURDISH QUESTION
HDK Co-Spokesperson Cengiz Çiçek started his speech by condemning the attacks. Expressing his condolences for those who lost their lives, Çiçek said, "The AKP-MHP government is in a process of collapse and disintegration." Drawing attention to the fact that the deadlock in the Kurdish question prolongs the life of the governments in the country on the one hand, but leads those governments to the process of collapse on the other, Çiçek said, "This is the end that awaits the AKP, and they are aware of it. We are calling out to the peoples of Turkey from Amed, from the heart of Kurdistan; The Kurdish issue is not just our problem. The deadlock in the Kurdish issue means the poverty of the peoples and laborers of Turkey. Every fighter jet that takes off, every bombing reflects on the electricity bills. As long as the Kurdish question remains unresolved, the peoples of Turkey are condemned to hunger, poverty and misery."
CALL FOR A JOINT FIGHT
Çiçek said: "Unless we develop a social solution perspective for the solution of the Kurdish question, as long as the peoples of Turkey, socialists and revolutionaries remains silent, the Kurdish question will be doomed to be in a deadlock. These attacks forces us to join eachother in a common struggle."
