RIHA - "Our march will ensure the physical freedom of Mr Abdullah Öcalan," said the women who reached Amara in the march initiated by Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) with the slogan "We Walk to Freedom with Hope".

On the 3rd day of the march started by the TJA from Amed (Diyarbakır) to Ankara with the slogan "We Walk to Freedom with Hope", women reached the house of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Amara, where he was born, in the Xelfetî (Halfeti) district of Riha (Urfa).

The women entered the village accompanied by slogans and were greeted with enthusiasm by Abdullah Öcalan's brother Mehmet Öcalan and his relatives at the entrance of the house where Öcalan was born.

Speaking in front of the house, Mehmet Öcalan said:  "This march of yours is a holy march. The women's movement will go all the way to Ankara and give its message at the Parliamnet. An important message will be given for the Leader and all prisoners."

DEM Party MP Beritan Güneş Altın said: "On our third day we are in Amara, the sacred land where the Kurdish freedom struggle began. We commemorate the martyrs of Amara. We know that today we carry the hope of equality and peace thanks to their struggle."

She expressed that they also send greetings to international women: "The voice of international women will reach its goal. It will ensure the freedom of leader Abdullah Öcalan."

Beritan Güneş stated that Abdullah Öcalan's freedom is the expectation of the people and said: "Mr Öcalan is for peace. Whoever is blocking the way for freedom and peace today, we want them to be exposed. We expect the 'right to hope' to be ensured and Mr Öcalan's freedom to be ensured. Women here are now demanding the freedom of Mr Abdullah Öcalan."

'A HISTORIC MARCH'

Noting that women will have their demands accepted with their own stance, she concluded: "This march of ours is a historical step. This march of ours will get results. And this march of ours will ensure the physical freedom of Mr Abdullah Öcalan."

After the statement, the women read a section from Abdullah Öcalan's perspective on Peace and Democratic Society and then continued their march towards Ankara.
