NEWS CENTER - SDF stated that nine of its fighters were killed in attacks on the prison in Raqqa, emphasising that the International Coalition failed to keep its word regarding the transfer of DAESH members from the prison.

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) issued a statement today regarding the recent situation at Al-Aqtan Prison in Raqqa, stating: “For three days, our forces have continued coordination with the International Coalition in order to transfer DAESH detainees held at Al-Aqtan Prison in Raqqa to safe locations.

However, despite repeated promises, the Coalition has so far taken no practical steps in this regard. During the ongoing clashes with Damascus-aligned factions, which are launching attacks on the prison, our forces have continued to carry out their duty to protect the prison and prevent a security breakdown. These clashes have resulted, up to the moment of issuing this statement, in the martyrdom of 9 of our fighters and the injury of 20 others. Clashes are still ongoing at this time amid extremely dangerous security conditions.”
