In a statement, the HPG Press Liaison Center said that on the night of May 30, a group of its members was traveling between locations when they came under attack near the village of Zêvê in the Qeleniyê area of the Çaldıran Plain while crossing a waterway.

According to the HPG, Iranian forces detected the group and opened fire, resulting in a clash. The organization stated that one of its members, identified as Heqî Karer, was killed, while two Iranian soldiers were wounded.

The statement described the incident as an ambush against a group that “posed no harm to anyone” and said the killing of its member under such circumstances was “concerning.” The HPG further warned that if similar incidents continue, “a reassessment” of the situation could become necessary.
