ANKARA – It has been learned that Abdullah Öcalan, who stepped in during critical days when clashes in Rojava were intensifying, conveyed important messsages and warnings to the SDF in particular, as well as to the state and politicians from Southern Kurdistan.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) shared with the public on 30 January the agreement it reached with the Syrian Interim Government. While a ceasefire was secured after the agreement, traffic on the ground also increased. Delegations affiliated with Damascus visited both Kobanê (Kobani) and Hesekê (Hasakah) and Qamişlo (Qamishlo). SDF appointed Nureddîn Îsa Ahmed as Governor of Hesekê. Integration efforts are continuing.

Along with Imrali Delegation members Mithat Sancar and Pervin Buldan, Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Co-chair Tuncer Bakırhan stated that Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan played a majör role in achieving the agreement.

WHAT WARNINGS DID ABDULLAH ÖCALAN MAKE?

Regarding the issue, we spoke with political sources who are informed about the communication process on Imrali Island. While the information pointed out by DEM Party members was confirmed, it was learned that Abdullah Öcalan made an intensive effort during this process.

According to the information obtained, Abdullah Öcalan conveyed messages during the period of clashed to the SDF, Kurdish political actors in the Federated Kurdistan Region (Iraqi Kurdistan), as well as to DEM Party and state officials.

After the attacks on Aleppo began, Abdullah Öcalan warned that if the problem was not overcome and the attacks continued, an extremely bloody Picture could emerge. He stated that the process contained a dangerous dynamic with the potential to turn the coming century into Kurdish-Turkish and Arab conflicts.

Abdullah Öcalan conveyed to the SDF the message that the current course could only be halted through negotiation and dialogue. It was also learned that he sent the message that if the Sharaa administration turned toward democracy, openly recognized the Kurdish presence and granted Kurds the right to political representation, the SDF could also “enter into a democratic negotiation process.”

MESSAGE TO KURDISH POLITICAL PARTIES

It was noted that Abdullah Öcalan conveyed messages not only to the SDF but also to Kurdish political forces (KCK, politicians in the Federated Kurdistan Region, DEM Party…). In the messages, he warned that the danger was extremely great and therefore called for Rojava to be embraced on the basis of democratic unity.

MESSAGE TO THE STATE: ‘DO NOT BE PART OF THE PLAN’

Another party Abdullah Öcalan warned during this process was the state and the government. According to sources, Abdullah Öcalan sent the message to the state and the government: “Do not be part of the plan that aims at the liquidation of the Kurds.” He warned that participating in the attacks would lead to major ruptures as well as heavy and negative consequences. He conveyed the message to the state/government to “play a positive role.”

THE AGREEMENT REALIZED WITH ABDULLAH ÖCALAN’S WILL

The agreement announced on 30 January was implemented with the full support and will of Abdullah Öcalan. Meanwhile, it was learned that Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani also played an important role in this process.
