NEWS CENTRE - KRI President Nechirvan Barzanî and SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi held talks in Hewlêr regarding the situation in Syria, the condition of the Kurds, and dialogue with Damascus.

 

The President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), Nechirvan Barzani, received the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, in Hewlêr (Erbil). The meeting focused on developments in Syria and the political situation of the Kurds and other communities in the country.

 

According to the KRI Presidency Office, the meeting took place on Tuesday morning at Barzani’s residence. According to the published statement, both sides exchanged views on the current situation in Syria, regional developments, and issues related to stability and security. Threats posed by terrorist groups and the necessity of joint efforts to maintain stability in the region were also discussed.

 

Mazloum Abdi reportedly thanked Barzani and the Kurdistan Regional Government for their continued support for the rights of the Kurds and other communities in Syria.

 

Another key topic of the meeting was political understanding among Kurdish forces in Syria. According to the statement, the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding between Kurdish parties was emphasized. At the same time, both sides underlined the necessity of reaching an understanding with the transitional government in Damascus.
