SILÊMANIYÊ - In the speeches made at the opening event of the Kurdish Women's Library, Archive and Research Center, the message "The torch lit by Nagihan will continue to light in this library. Jin, jiyan, azadi philosophy will grow."
Activities regarding the Kurdish Women's Library, Archive and Research Center, which was opened in the city of Silêmaniyê (Süleymaniye) in the Federated Kurdistan Region, continue on its second day. The women gathered in the central building entered the building with the slogans of "jin jiyan azadi". Many women from Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Women's Council, Shengal, Mahkmur and Northern and Eastern Syria participated in the event. The Catalonia Jineology Committee, the doctor Barbara Pade Theissen from Germany, who has studies on patriarchal society, the German Jineology Committee and women from many parts of the world participated in the event. Women from all over the world, who came for the opening of the center, brought with them books that shed light on women's history and struggle, as well as books and magazines of their own work, and donated them to the library.
WOMEN MEET FOR A SINGLE PURPOSE
Botan Hoşî from the Association of Women Writers, who participated in the program from Northern and Eastern Syria, stated that women from all over Kurdistan gathered for a single purpose. Hosi said: "I brought the greetings of women fighting in Northern and Eastern Syria. Women are fighting for freedom there. Many women who wanted to come here could not come due to limited opportunities. Writer women from Rojava greet you. Despite all the impossibilities, we find it important to open this library. Happy birthday to us women.”
PRODUCT OF WOMEN'S LABOR
Fatma Rojhilat, who attended the opening on behalf of KJAR (Coordination Komelgeha Jinên Azad a Rojhilatê Kurdistanê), reminded the work of Nagihan Akarsel, a member of the Jineology Academy, who was murdered in Silêmaniyê on October 4, 2022, for the Kurdish Women's Library. Rojhilat said: "This place was opened as a product of labor.
GERMAN KAMPFEN: WE ARE EXCITED
Sina V. Gemeinsam Kampfen, who participated from Germany, emphasized the importance of the work to be carried out by the center and said: “Recording the songs of our great-grandmothers is very important in terms of democratization. It takes us to Mesopotamia, where we find our own culture, past and language. It is very meaningful for us to conduct historical research here. We are here because we want to be a part of this process. We want to contribute and improve. We are excited for this. All women will be a part of this process.”
'WOMEN'S HISTORY AND SOCIETY WILL BE READ'
Sirweey Beyan from Federated Kurdistan stated that the historical struggle of Kurdish women will be written and researched in this library. Beyan said: "The whole world will see and read the history and sociality of world women, especially Kurdish women."
'JIN JIYAN AZADI' PHILOSOPHY
Green Left Party Mêrdîn Deputy Beritan Güneş greeted the Kurdish women who are fighting for freedom. Güneş said: “I greet the women who gathered us here to realize Nagihan's dream. While asking the account of Jîna Emini with the slogan 'Jin jiyan azadi', we received the news that Nagihan, the veteran of 'jin jiyan azadi', was murdered. Jîna in Rojhilat, Nagihan in Başûr, Hevrîn Xelef, Yusra in Rojava, Sakine, Leyla and Fidan in France, they were murdered. Wherever there are Kurdish gains, a message is intended to be given to us. They want to stifle our female libertarian paradigm. They want to strangle the Kurdish struggle. We are sending the following message from here, from this library: The torch lit by Nagihan and his companions will continue to light in this library, the voices emanating from the library will expand the 'jin jiyan azadi' philosophy in the world, and we will not bow down to fascism.”
Güneş said: "Our immortal comrade Nagihan's struggle is not unfinished. Here today, your friends made a dream come true. We will make all your dreams come true one by one.” Meanwhile, the slogan “Nagihan is immortal” was raised from the hall.
After the speeches, the women placed the books and works they brought in the Kurdish Women's Library, Archive and Research Center.
The program ended with the slogans "jin jiyan azadi" and "Comrade Nagihan is immortal".
