Baloch Amma Houri, who searched for her lost son, passes away

NEWS CENTER - Amma Houri, 98, fought for years to learn the fate of her son Gul Mohammad Marri, who was detained by Pakistan and disappeared im 2012. She has passed away due to old age on 16 February. 

One of thousands of Baloch who lost loved ones, Amma Houri fought for years to learn the fate of both her son and other Baloch who were forcibly disappeared. Amma Houri fought from Quetta to Karachi and from Karachi to Islamabad, and she spearheaded months of protests in front of the Islamabad Press Club in March 2025 for the missing. 
 
She took part in a march last September demanding the disclosure of the fate of the missing and an end to the crackdown on Balochs. Speaking there, Amma Houri has said: "Those in power did not even give us a voice; they treated us like animals." 
 
Amma Houri became one of dozens of Baloch women who lost their lives without knowing the fate of their loved ones. Amma Houri is expected to be buried today.
