NEWS CENTER – Shabir Baloch was detained by Pakistan 10 years ago and has not been heard from since. His sister Seema Baloch said, “The fate of our missing loved ones must be revealed.”
The Baloch Solidarity Committee (BYC / Baloch Yakjehti Committee) launched a campaign entitled “One Year of Enforced Detention, One Year of Systematic Repression” to mark the anniversary of the arrest of its leaders. As part of the campaign, family members of Baloch people who were disappeared by the Pakistani state long ago are demanding an end to the repression and an explanation of the fate of the disappeared. Seema Baloch called for the disclosure of the fate of her brother Shabir Baloch and all other missing persons, the release of BYC leaders and detainees, and an end to the systematic repression, attack policies against Baloch.
FIRST YEAR ACTIONS
Last March 1st, a series of actions and events were launched under the leadership of BYC leaders. Following these actions, on 22 March, both BYC leaders and dozens of Baloch activists were detained by the Pakistani state. The BYC launched a campaign entitled “One Year of Enforced Detention, One Year of Systematic Repression" to draw attention to the detentions and oppression.
'I KNOCKED ON EVERY DOOR FOR JUSTICE'
Seema Baloch released a video as part of the campaign. In the video, Seema Baloch said: “My brother was forcibly disappeared ten years ago. Since that day, I have knocked on every door possible in search of justice. To this day, we do not even know if he is alive. If he is accused of any crime, I have demanded that he be brought before a court. Instead, we have been left in uncertainty and pain. With each passing day, our pain deepens. Mothers and sisters continue to lose their loved ones, who are forcible disappeared and killed.”
SILENCE IN THE FACE OF INJUSTICE IS NOT AN OPTION
She said: “A year has passed since the arrest of BYC leaders. During this time, state pressure has increased. Enforced disappearances, fake clashes, extrajudicial killings and targeted attacks continue in the shadow of the Balochistan genocide. The cycle of suffering has not stopped; on the contrary, it has intensified.”
Seema Baloch concluded: “In this campaign marking the first anniversary of the unlawful arrest of BYC leaders, I call on our nation to come together and actively participate. This is our shared responsibility. Silence is not an option in the face of brutality and injustice. We must unite against state oppression.”
