NEWS CENTER - MSD stated that the prisoner exchange in Sweida was an important step and called for the process to be extended to all regions of Syria in order to achieve internal peace and move towards positive change.

The Democratic Syrian Council (MSD), which issued a statement on the prisoner exchange in Sweida, said that this achievement should not be limited to a single incident and should be extended to all Syrian territories.

The statement expressed great satisfaction with the prisoner exchange process, completed under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross, noting that 86 detainees were released (61 returned to Sweida and 25 to Damascus) and, in return, approximately 30 government forces detained by local groups were released.

The statement noted that this step proved that humanitarian gains were possible even amid the chaos in Syria, adding that it could pave the way for resolving sensitive issues such as hostage and prisoners and building trust.

The statement stressed that this step should not be limited to a single incident but should extend to the entire relationship between the SDF and the transitional government.

The statement added: "This can be achieved through transparent mechanisms that ensure the continuity of the prisoner release process and are free from privileged approaches or political manipulation."

The statement called for the release of hostages to be treated as a priority and for this process to be extended to all regions of Syria in order to achieve internal peace and progress towards positive change.
