RIHA – As the siege on Kobanê (Kobani) continues into its 41st day, the humanitarian crisis is deepening in the city, which has a population of over 600,000.

The siege on Kobanê, launched on 20 January by HTŞ, DAİŞ and paramilitary groups affiliated with Turkey, has entered its 41st day. Although the siege on Kobanê should have been lifted on 29 January under an agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Damascus government, no concrete steps have been taken to implement the agreement in the city.

With the start of the attacks, it is reported that the population of the city has exceeded 600,000 due to migration to Kobanê from Tabqa, Raqqa and Aleppo. Due to the siege, there are major difficulties in accessing shelter, food, clean water and health services in the city, and the humanitarian crisis is deepening day by day.
