NEWS CENTER – The artist Elî Mensûr, from the city of Amûdê in Northern and Eastern Syria, lost his life due to an illness.

 

Elî Mensûr, who began his artistic journey at a young age, founded the group Koma Mehabad with some artists in 1982. In this group, he wrote lyrics and composed the music for many songs. 

 

In 1986, he founded the group Koma Agirî in Aleppo with his friends. The songs he wrote and composed spread throughout Kurdistan and received great attention.

 

Elî Mensûr was committed to the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom. He was arrested by the Baath regime for political reasons. Despite all the oppression, he never gave up his artistic struggle.
