Taksim under lockdown

ISTANBUL - Taksim has been sealed off by police and numerous roads have been closed due to May Day.

On May Day, Taksim was cordoned off and closed by police under orders from the Istanbul Governor’s Office. Trade unions, especially those that had decided to march to Taksim, along with some political parties and youth organizations, called for people to gather in the Mecidiyeköy district of Şişli.
