ISTANBUL - The bodies of Fatma Nur Çelik and her 8-year-old daughter Hifa İkra Şengüler, who had been fighting for years against the abuse were found on the Zeytinburnu coast.
The bodies of Fatma Nur Çelik and her 8-year-old daughter Hifa İkra Şengüler, who had been fighting for years against the abuse of Ayhan Şengüler, the head of the Quran Service Foundation, and who had been keeping vigil in front of the courthouse to make their voices heard, were found on the coast of Zeytinburnu, Istanbul. After the bodies were found around 22:00 last night, police and medical teams were called to the scene.
According to the claim, those who came to the shore to fish noticed a person standing motionless in the sea and informed the police and medical teams. The medical teams determined that the woman, who was pulled from the water at the scene, had died. Based on the statements of people nearby, the coast guard teams carried out a search in case there was another person in the sea. As a result of the search, which lasted about an hour, the lifeless body of a second person, 8-year-old Ikra, was found. The bodies of the mother and daughter were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) morgue for examination. The investigation into the incident continues.

Our clients could no longer endure the siege of reactionaries and the severe pain inflicted upon them. We have learned that mother Fatma Nur Çelik and her daughter Hifa İkra Şengüler committed suicide. As the Association for Children and Women, we promise that we will hold account for every single life we have lost to the very end."
