NEWS CENTER - Protests have resumed in Abadan, one of the leading cities of the demonstrations, while in Nur, photographs of those killed in the protests have been hung starting from the city entrance.
The protests that began in Iran and Rojhilat (Iran Kurdistan) are now in their 55th day. Protests, which restarts especially on the 40th day of mourning for those killed on the 17th and 18th, have begun to grow in size. With students supporting the strikes, protests have begun to rise on university campuses. Meanwhile, with increasingly large crowds at the 40th day ceremonies, graveyards have turned into protest areas.
PROTESTS RISE CITY BY CITY
Protests have resumed in the city of Abadan in Ilam province. Thousands of people took to the streets in Abadan, one of the leading cities of the protests since 28 December, and seized state institutions. The city, which had been cut off from news since internet blackouts, was placed under siege due to the 40th day ceremonies. With protests resuming in the city, pressure on citizens began to mount. Images of attacks on the public, including a wave of arrests and detentions targeting the city's residents, were shared on social media accounts.
Footage captured the moment Yaqub Muhammedi, a former political prisoner from Abdanan, was abducted during a raid on his home. According to local sources, Muhammedi, a prominent figure in the city and a teacher, was abducted by armed civilians claiming to be affiliated with the regime forces who came to his home. Security camera footage shows that Muhammedi's family and wife were also attacked. It was stated that the people of Abdanan would not remain silent about the incident and that protests would continue.
Meanwhile, posters of those killed during the protests were hung at the entrance to the city of Nur in Mazanderan province. It was noted that the posters, hung along the city entrance solely to commemorate those killed in the protests in Nur city, stretched for kilometres.
NAMES OF THE 40 ARRESTED STUDENTS
Meanwhile, human rights organisations announced the names of the 40 arrested students.
