DİYARBAKIR - Stating that the election system of the bar associations wanted to be changed in order to remove the obstacles in front of the government, Diyarbakır Bar President Cihan Aydın said that the bar associations are wanted to be silenced with the proposal for the change in the attorney's act.

 

Diyarbakır Bar Association President Cihan Aydın made evaluations about the government's efforts to change the delegation structures of the bar associations. Stating that the change in the election system of the bar associations is not based on the statements of the bars against the statement of Religious Affairs targeting the LGBTQI individuals, Aydın said the government sees an opportunity in this regard. Repeating that their statements on the issue were correct, Aydın reminded that the  the high-level government bureaucrats should say what they said after reviewing it very carefully. Aydın stressed that otherwise this will lead to an increase in the hate crimes and hate murders.

 

'THEY ARE TRYING TO SILENCE THE BAR ASSOCIATIONS'

 

Adding that there is a need for some reforms in the Attorney's Act however if the proposed legal amendment is raised,the people will be the ones to suffer from it, Aydın said: "Because the only mechanism that protects the right of the citizen in the face of those who have the power is the bar associations. Bar associations are the prosecution, court and independent defense, which are called the 3 founding elements of the judiciary. From the trilogy here, the prosecution and courts are completely surrendered to power. It has lost its independence and impartiality, and the right to a fair trial is completely undermined by the government.They want to silence the bar associations who object to this process by saying that the rule of law is indispensable."

 

TURKEY TYPE BARS

 

Stating that the 'Binary bar system' proposed by Turkey will polarize the bars just as they polarized the people, Aydın said: "There are no multi- bar systems anywhere in the world. Just as the Turkey type Presidency has been seen anywhere in the world, if the will is enacted, Turkey will also have a binary bar system."
