NEWS CENTER - Journalist Nesrîn Hisên commented on the Barzani-Erdogan meeting that took place after Turkey's attacks, saying, "Barzani showed that he was an accomplice in Turkey's attacks."

 

On February 1, Turkey carried out simultaneous airstrikes on Shengal, Makhmur and the villages of Dêrik and Shehba in Northern and Eastern Syria. One day after attacks, President of the Federated Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani and AKP President Tayyip Erdogan came together in Ankara. Nesrîn Hisên, a journalist in Shengal, evaluated the attacks against the region and the Erdogan-Barzani meeting.

 

Journalist Nesrîn Hisên said that Turkey targeted the self-government system with its attacks and wanted to make room for itself in these regions, and said that Turkey carried out such attacks because it knew that it could not control a self-governing people. Enraged by Turkey's reaction upon the defeat of ISIS, Nesrîn Hisên said that the people did not back down in the face of the attacks.

 

SHENGAL AGREEMENT

 

Drawing attention to the "Shengal Agreement" signed between Baghdad and Hewlêr on October 9, 2020, Hisên said, "To implement the October 9 agreement means to destroy the Yazidis. If they try to implement the October 9 agreement in Shengal, they will encounter resistance."

 

ÖCALAN'S PARADIGM

 

Stating that the main reason for the attacks was the self-government model implemented within the framework of the ideas of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Hisên said, "Turkey's air attacks have increased since 2017. Since then, almost 90 percent of Shengal have been bombed. Turkey has targeted the leaders of the Yazidis in every attack it has carried out. Because Shengal is a strategic area and a place of resistance. After the massacre against the Yazidis, Yazidi youth and women were organized under Öcalan's ideology. Currently, Yazidis are gathering around this ideology against attacks. Yazidis are no longer the same with what they were before. There is a great resistance in Shengal. Turkey can not tolerate this resistance and continues its attacks."

 

PLANNED ATTACKS

 

Pointing out to the silence of the Iraqi government against these attacks, Nesîn Hisên said: "Turkey attacked the 80th Infantry Division of Hashd al-Shaabi. This situation must be a loss for Iraq. But unfortunately Iraq remained silent against these attacks. Everyone should know this well. The Yazidis are not afraid of these threats. The Yazidis are resisting Turkey's dirty plans. We know very well that Turkey does not carry out any attack on its own. Every attack is planned. The Yazidis will never bow down in the face of these attacks."

 

MEETING OF APPRECIATION

 

Evaluating the meeting between Neçîrvan Barzani and Erdoğan, Nesrîn Hisên continued: "After the attacks against Şhengal, Makhmur and Rojava Kurdistan, Neçîrvan Barzani met with Erdoğan. In this meeting, they discussed what kind of attacks could be carried out in the future. Barzani's meeting with Erdoğan an indication of his apprechiation. Barzani thanked Erdogan for attacking Makhmur, Shengal and Dêrik. This picture also proved that Barzani was an accomplice in Turkey in the attacks."
