DİYARBAKIR - Reporting that Kurbani Özcan has been tortured and stating that she was worried about her son's life, Gülan Ateş said: "I will continue to seek his rights."
Gülan Ateş, the mother of the ordinary prisoner Kurbani Özcan who was reported to have been tortured in Diyarbakır No. 3 Type T Prison, launched a sit-in demonstration in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse on August 30, demanding an end to the violence against her son and his transfer to Erzurum. Ateş, who got ill and was taken to the hospital on the second day of her protest, took a break from her protest due to her health problems. Before leaving for her hometown of Erzurum, Ateş spoke to our agency and stated that she did not end her protest and took a break due to health problems.
'I WILL SEEK THE RIGHTS OF MY CHILD'
Noting that she will continue the sit-in demonstration she started in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse as long as she can do, Ateş said: “I can't stop because of my health condition, but I will continue the sit-in. My child has no life safety. They will kill him. We both cry every time he calls me. When I visit him, I see the scars on my child's body with my own eyes. Prison wardens are plotting against my son. Does such a thing happen? Wherever he is, I will seek the rights of my child. I'm ill, I can't continue the sit-in, but I will not stop following this situation . I'm worried; I want a solution to my son's situation."
