NEWS CENTER – Derin Peshmerga Abdullah Çalak said that the KDP is ready to commit a greater betrayal in order to maintain its rule.
Dêrin Peshmerga (former retired peshmerga) Abdullah Çalak made evaluations about the betrayals of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) against the Kurdish people. Speaking to Rojnews, Abdullah Çalak said: "Since the Kurdish parties in Southern Kurdistan were founded based on tribes, there has always been conflict between them and they have passed the stage of destroying and betraying each other. When we look at the history of the Barzani family, they were asked to return to Southern Kurdistan and start activities for Kurdistan after Ashbetal (leaving the revolution) in 1975, but they did not return and said that they had no faith in the revolution. The KDP has always sided with the massacres of the invaders and used them as weapons against their opponents.”
POLITICAL TRADE
Stating that both KDP is the planner and executive of the betrayal of August 31st, 1996 and KDP was also proud of the betrayal of August 31st, Abdullah Çalak continued: "The Kurdish nation is not important to them, these political traders are under pressure from international and self-interested countries. The KDP captured and killed many people. 70 PKK guerrillas were martyred. They even killed members of Iraqi and Turkmen groups. But the problem is that no national congress has been held so far to condemn the Kurdish parties' support for treason. The KDP's betrayals continue today. The KDP is ready to commit even greater betrayals to maintain its rule. The KDP, with its betrayals, wants to drive the Kurds of Southern Kurdistan away from other parts of Kurdistan.”
WHAT HAPPENED ON AUGUST 31, 1996
Against the influence of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Hewlêr, Saddam Hussein entered Hewler on August 31, 1996 with tanks, artillery, heavy weapons and 30,000 soldiers upon the invitation of the KDP. While KDP Chairperson Mesut Barzani sent a letter to Saddam Hussein on August 22, 1996, inviting Hewler to invade against the PUK, 450 PUK members lost their lives and hundreds were injured in clashes with military groups affiliated with Saddam who entered Hewlêr.
