ANKARA - Stating that the isolation against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan cannot be described as an obstacle to the view of family and lawyers, HDP MP Kemal Bülbül said: "There is a lawlessness system in Imrali.

There has been no news for 21 months from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under heavy isolation conditions in Imrali Type F High Security Prison for 23 years in Turkey, where he was charged with an international conspiracy. The concerns of the Kurdish public, especially Abdullah Öcalan's family, about the ongoing lack of news on Imrali Island increased after the meeting of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) on September 20-29, 2022. While the meetings with the family and lawyers were rejected, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Berdan Öztürk, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Saliha Aydeniz, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairs Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar and parliamentarians responded to the requests for meeting and their requests were not answered. HDP MPs, who started to protest the silence of the Ministry of Justice and demand that Abdullah Öcalan meet with his lawyers, have been continuing their protests for 15 days.

'ABDULLAH ÖCALAN INFLUENCES THE WORLD'

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan and the political movement he represents wanted a democratic and egalitarian solution based on human rights and freedoms in Kurdistan and the Middle East, Bülbül said: "The system governing İmralı Island did not want a democratic and egalitarian solution. It reflects both the isolation and psychologically on the Kurdish people. This situation is somehow reflected in Turkey and the Middle East. If there is a meeting right now, it will be a relief, some things about a solution will emerge, and this will be reflected in the public, the political environment, the state, everywhere. Mr. Öcalan's making a political analysis, saying something humanely, is not just about anybody's speech or making a political analysis. Öcalan is influencing the Middle East, Turkey, Kurdistan and the world.”

'MINISTRY OF JUSTICE COMMITS A CRIME'

Stating that they encountered a "tin barrier" when they went to the Ministry of Justice within the scope of the Justice Watch they started against the isolation, Bülbül said: "The 15 or 20 elected MPs of the Parliament come before the Ministry of Justice. He's committing a crime. Isolation itself is a crime, and not hearing the democratic demands for isolation is also a crime. We are also in isolation in front of the Ministry. The appointed Minister of Justice does not have the seriousness to ask the elected people, "What is your demand?" We are making a statement at the Dikmen Gate of the Assembly, where we are also in isolation. As we take action against the isolation, we are faced with a new isolation."
