AMED - The prosecutor, who prepared an indictment against DBP Amed Provincial Co-Chair Hayrettin Altun, affixed the police enquiry report "the issues were followed by our teams" and demanded up to 15 years in prison.
Indictment against Diyarbakır Provincial Co-Chair Hayrettin Altun, who was detained together with Co-Chairs Keskin Bayındır and 14 other provincial co-chairs in the police raid of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) on December 23, 2022 and arrested by Diyarbakır 5th Criminal Court of Peace on December 27, was prepared. The indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office by copying the police enquiry report as it was, demanded that Altun be sentenced to 7 years, 6 months and 15 years in prison for allegedly being a "member of a terrorist organization". Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court accepted the indictment and set the date of February 2 for the first hearing.
The indictment included the statements of secret witnesses codenamed Firar, Hafız, Ezel, and Birdal Erol and Kezban Kuday. It was stated that an investigation was launched against Altun after the statements of 3 secret and 2 public witnesses, which were not directly related to Altun.
THE POLICE ENQUIRY REPORT WAS AFFIXED TO THE INDICTMENT
It was alleged that the party activities Altun participated in and 12 separate actions and activities were carried out in line with the KCK's instructions. Some actions and activities were included in the indictment, as in the police enquiry report, and it was stated that "the issues were followed up by our teams". The parts of the police report, which was not translated into a legal text and entered Altun's indictment as legal evidence, belong to the HDP meeting held on May 3, 2021 regarding the hunger strike of the prisoners in prisons.
THE STATEMENTS OF ALTUN IS CONSIDERED THE CRIMES
The announcement of November 1, World Kobanê Day, of Altun, the protest march regarding the murder of journalist Nagihan Akarsel in Sulaymaniyah, the 2nd Ordinary Congress of MEBYA-DER, the statement made against the isolation imposed on Öcalan, his participation in the march to protest the murder of HDP's Deniz Poyraz, 3 statements about the hunger strike, and HDP's conference and organizing meeting were considered as evidence of crime.
PRISON SENTENCE FOR JOINING TO PROTESTS'
In the indictment, where it is argued that Altun participated in 12 protests "on the orders of the organization", it was claimed that Altun ``established an organic bond with the organization" and "acted within the structure of the organizational hierarchy" within the scope of the entire file. It was demanded that Altun, who was accused of "participating in organizational activities", be sentenced to prison terms ranging from 7 years, 6 months to 15 years.
