AMED - Stating that her arrested daughter Gülistan Al was transferred to 5 prisons in 6 years, Emine Al said: “The transfers turned into torture. We do not accept this isolation."
While the rights violations against political prisoners in prisons increase day by day, the prisoners and their families are also punished as a result of these violations. A lawsuit was filed against Gülistan Al (30), who was detained and arrested in Adana in 2017, with a request for aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state". As a result of the case, the court sentenced Al to aggravated life imprisonment.
AL WAS TRANSFERRED TO 5 PRISONS IN 6 YEARS
Al, who was transferred to many prisons against his will in 6 years, was transferred to Osmaniye Type T Closed Prison after being held in Adana Prison for 15 days. Al, who stayed here for a short time, was later transferred to Antep Type L Closed Prison. Al was held in solitary confinement for 6 months. Al, who was later transferred to another prison in Antep, was transferred to Kayseri in 2021. Al was beaten during the transfer and his family was not informed. Al, who was held in Kayseri Women's Closed Prison for about 3 years, contracted various diseases during this time.
Al's family, who lives in Amed(Diyarbakır), has to travel kilometers to visit her. Noting that their families were also wanted to be punished along with the exiles, Gulistan Al's mother, Emine Al, said that the deportations turned into torture.
2 DAYS ON ROAD
Stating that the prisoners were transferred to cities far from their families and therefore the families had a hard time, Mother Al said: “Kayseri is very far from Amed, and the prison where my daughter is is already outside Kayseri. They built a prison on top of a mountain, there is nothing around it except 4 buildings. We change 3 vehicles to reach the prison from Kayseri center. It already takes 9 hours from Diyarbakır to Kayseri. Both my husband and I are very ill, traveling for so many hours makes us miserable. We spent almost two days on the road. When we come home, we try to recover for a few days. If it were close, I could go to visit my daughter all the time."
AL HAS BEEN HELD IN CELL FOR 17 MONTHS
Stating that her daughter was tortured while she was held in Osmaniye Prison, mother Al said: “One day, when we went to visit her, her face and eyes were full of bruises. Lawyers from the human rights association were gone, and they exiled them citing this as a reason. They transferred her to Antep, where she was tortured. She has now been held in a cell in Kayseri for 1 year and 5 months. She has a problem with her eyes. I don't know if she has another disease because she doesn't tell us about it in any way, but forgetfulness has started. We are under isolation. We do not accept this isolation imposed on both us and my daughter and call on human rights defenders and politicians to be sensitive to the violations taking place in prisons."
