AMED - At the hearing of former HDP MP Musa Farisoğlu, a 26-year prison sentence was requested on 3 separate charges.
The lawsuit filed against Musa Farisoğulları, former MP of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), on the allegations of "being a member of a terrorist organisation", "making propaganda for a terrorist organisation", "inciting the public to illegal meetings and demonstrations" and "participating in unlawful meetings and marches unarmed and not dispersing spontaneously despite the warning" The hearing was held. Farisoğulları and his lawyers did not attend the hearing held at Diyarbakır 10th High Criminal Court.
EVERYTHING IS A CRIME!
At the hearing, the prosecution presented its opinion to the court. The prosecutor stated that Farisoğlları served in the Diplomacy Commission and the Presidential Council of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), and noted that he participated in 38 demonstrations that were claimed to have "turned into organization propaganda". Claiming that Farisoğuları participated in funeral ceremonies, cemetery visits, condolences, and press statements upon the "organization's instructions", the prosecutor claimed that the files in question were "within the scope of membership in the organization".
It was drawn attention that Farisoğulları resisted the police trying to enter the building during the hunger strikes against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, participated in the statements regarding the hunger strike initiated by DTK Co-Chair Leyla Güven, and participated in the trustee protest, and committed the crime of "violating the law on meetings and demonstrations".
Claiming that Farisoğulları "acted in line with the purpose of the organization" in the 8 protests and virtual media accounts he participated in in 2019, the prosecutor also argued that Farisoğulları "chained propaganda for the organization" with his speeches and posts.
REQUEST FOR 26 YEARS PRISON SENTENCE
Farisoğulları was sentenced to between 7 years and 6 months and 15 years on the charge of "being a member of a terrorist organisation", between 1 year and 3 months to 7 years and 6 months on the charge of "making propaganda for a organisation", and between 1 year and 6 months on the charge of "violating the law by holding meetings and demonstrations". It was requested that he would be punished with a prison sentence ranging from 3 years.The prosecutor also requested that the sentence be increased.
DECISION HEARING ON DECEMBER 1
The court decided to give Farisoğuları and their lawyers time until the next hearing to make their defense, and postponed the hearing to December 1.
