16-year-old Armita Girawend, who was subjected to violence by Gashte Irshad (Rehbet Patrols) for refusing to wear a headscarf in Iran, died yesterday at Fajr Hospital in Tehran, where she was in intensive care. Armita, whose burial was prevented in Kirmashan, was buried en masse in the Beheshti Zera Cemetery in Tehran. Many people who attended Armita's funeral were detained under torture by regime forces. It was learned that lawyer and human rights activist Nesrin Sotudeh, who attended the ceremony, was also detained under torture.
