MÊRDÎN - Prisoner Mehmet Bahaddin Öncü was not allowed to attend the funeral and condolence of his mother on the grounds of "security".
Vahibe (Vesile) Öncü, Peace Mother, died in hospital the day before yesterday after a heart attack. Vahibe Öncü's body was buried yesterday in Priketa neighbourhood of Mêrdîn's (Mardin) Qoser (Kızıltepe) district. Mehmet Bahaddin Öncü, a 30-year prisoner in Bodrum Type D Closed Prison, applied to the prison administration to attend the funeral and condolence of his mother who died. Öncü's request was not accepted.
It is learned that Öncü was not allowed to attend the funeral on the grounds of "local security cannot be ensured" by Kızıltepe District Security Directorate.
