ISTANBUL - Pointing out that Sırrı Sureyya Onder is still have a risk of death, the hospital said: "We still have serious neurological concerns with high risks. We will continue to wait patiently."

The doctors of Sırrı Sureyya Onder, Parliamentary Deputy Chair of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party and member of the İmralı Delegation, who is being treated in intensive care at Florence Nightingale Hospital in Istanbul, made a statement.

Prof. Dr. Cavlan Ciftci stated that Onder still have a risk of death. Cavlan Ciftci said that the right side of Onder's heart started to contract markedly, but did not regain its full rhythm. "When we look at our patient neurologically, it seriously worries us. We find our patient extremely high risk. Therefore, we need a serious time," she said and added that the duration of anaesthesia may change according to the condition of Onder.

Ertan Sagbas, one of the doctors, said, "At first, the right side of the heart almost never contracted. Therefore, we gave device support. The beating of the right side was a surprise for us too. This was actually good news. It shows that the heart is slowly opening. This shows that we are on the right track. But we will wait longer, so device support will continue. We're reducing the medication to support the heart. He's stabilised well now. His internal organs are fine, kidney is fine, liver is fine. But we still have a long way to go."

Sagbas said that the prognosis for the heart has improved. Sagbas said, "We have closed the chest so that it cannot be opened, we have no bleeding. There is no re-operation. There is no tear or bleeding. The bypass is working, there is no infection. It is not possible to give you a deadline for the day the patient will stand up. We are going with instant follow-ups. Therefore, we can only make daily statements. We have a long way to go."

STATEMENT FROM THE HOSPITAL

The hospital also made a statement on the subject. The hospital gave information about the situation and treatment. It was stated: "Our patient has been unconscious since he first arrived and his reflexes are not at the desired level. Cerebral blood flow is also available on transcranial doppler. Our neurological evaluations and studies on the subject continue. For this reason, as we stated in our press release when he was first operated on, our serious neurological concerns still continue with high risks. We will continue to wait patiently."
