Mustafa Mesut Tekik, the co-chair of the People’s Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party in Êlih (Batman), passed away due to a heart attack. It was stated that Tekik, who had been in Istanbul for a while, fell ill at around 22.00 pm local time. Tekik, who was taken to Siyami Ersek Hospital in Üsküdar after his illness, could not be saved despite all interventions. 

 

Following his death, many people shared their condolences on social media, vowing to carry on Tekik’s struggle.

Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit: We are deeply saddened by the loss of our Batman Provincial Co-Chair, our comrade Mustafa Mesut Tekik. Tekik's body will be flown out tomorrow at 13.00 to be buried in his hometown Êlih.
