In Îdir, Leyla Akay was subjected to violence, stabbed and attempted to be murdered in the car she was in by Sinan Akay, with whom she filed for divorce. After Leyla Akay's complaint, Sinan Akay was detained and released on the condition of judicial control. Reacting to Sinan Akay's release, Leyla Akay said, "The murderer who wants to kill me is walking freely. I cannot divorce. I want justice. Do I have to die to get rid of him?" Sinan Akay was detained and arrested again after Akay's words were shared on virtual media.
