ANKARA- Reacting to the attacks on North and East Syria and Hakan Fidan's statements, DEM Party MP Sırrı Sakık says, "He says, 'Let them go away'. There is their land. You must leave."

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Agirî (Ağrı) MP Sırrı Sakık took the floor on the Central Government Budget Law Proposal for the Year 2025 being discussed in the General Assembly of the Parliament. In his speech, Sakık reacted to the ongoing discussions on the solution of the Kurdish issue and the attacks on North and East Syria.

Drawing attention to the historical alliance between Kurds and Turks, Sakık said that Kurds and Turks have lived on the same land for thousands of years. Referring to Abdullah Öcalan's call for a ceasefire in 1993 after Turgut Özal's request, Sakık said: "Özal died while we were in Damascus, and immediately Öcalan said; 'There is such a power in Turkey that they killed Özal.' I also believe this because there are forces that do not want peace in these lands; there are forces that feed on blood and violence. We came, our immunities were lifted, our party was shut down, we went to prison. What happened after that? The year 2013, the political actors of that process, especially Selahattin Demirtaş, İdris Baluken and others were in prison. Selahattin is still in prison. Because they were among the actors of that peace process. Now Kurdish politicians are trying to shape politics by paying such a great price."

Sakık continued his speech as follows: 'Mr Erdoğan, Mr Bahçeli, take Mr Özgür Özel, take Mr Selahattin Demirtaş, take all political actors who will contribute to peace, come and be the saints of this country.  You can be, we can create a new climate. Look, we do not have peace projects elsewhere, neither in New York, nor in Oslo, nor in London, nor in Paris. We can create an Ankara model in this land. You know what we can do? We can present a model that will set an example for the world.

Mr Erkan, Deputy Chair of the MHP Group, peace is very close to you. If you take a step, peace is here; you have a duty too, let's not put the burden on Mr Bahçeli and Erdoğan alone. We all have a duty, not just Selahattin Demirtaş or Öcalan.

MUST NEGOTIATE

Now we call on political actors, those who govern this country; I know Mr Erdoğan's courage in this matter from the past, he can do this, he can make peace; when he takes Mr Bahçeli with him, you can be sure that peace will be built in these lands, when he takes Mr Özgür Özel, peace will be built. Therefore, turkey needs this, Turkey needs to make peace as soon as possible and Turkey should maintain its friendship with Rojava, make peace with its own Kurds and continue negotiations with other Kurds, not struggle.

'YOU MUST LEAVE'

All political formations in Rojava are viewed as a 'secular movement' by everyone except Turkey, and only Turkey calls them 'terrorists'. However, they live in their own land. Hakan Fidan says; 'Let them go away.' It is their land; they were born there, they grew up there, their roots are there, their lives are there. If there is only one unit that must leave, it is the jihadists there, it is the forces that are occupying it, you must leave; those people live there, those lands are the lands of those people."
