MÊRDÎN - Emira Er from Rojava, who participated in the vigil on the Nisêbîn-Qamishlo border, stated that she did not come to the border for support, but as the owner of a cause, and said that Kurds have the right to self-governance like everyone else in Syria.

The vigil started at the Qamishlo border in Nisêbîn (Nusaybin) district of Mêrdîn (Mardin) against the attacks of Turkey and Syrian National Army (SNA) paramilitary group agiant North and East Syria continues on its 15th day. Emira Er, 52, lives in Girêsor rural neighborhood of Mardin's Derik district. Mother of 5 children, Emira Er was born and raised in the village of Çetelê in the Dirbesîye district of Hasekê in North and East Syria.

'WE ARE THE OWNERS OF THIS CAUSE'

“We are here with our people, our land and water. Rojava is like a part of our life and soul. That is why no one can tear it away from us" said Emira Er and added: "Rojava for about 13 years. Since the beginning of the war, the border gates have been closed and we have longed for our people who are in a difficult situation. We are the owners of this cause and we are struggling in the life imposed on us. My whole family was subjected to hardships and they were miserable but I couldn't go. We live with this pain. When we look from here, I am 4 steps away, but they have closed it with borders, soldiers and dogs. These lands belong to our fathers and grandfathers. We have been living on these lands since Rustemê Zal. No one has the right to take us out of here and put others in.”

Emira Er stated that the peoples in North and East Syria are resisting day and night and stressed that the peoples of North and East Syria are not waiting for a miracle and that they want to live with the existing model of governance.

'TODAY IS THE DAY OF UNITY'

Emira Er addressed Kurds and their supporters with Kurdish writer Cegerxwîn's quote “Eger em nebin yek, em ê herin yek bi yek (If we don't become one, we will disappear one by one)” and said: “From this hour on, the Kurdish people must be united. Today is not the day for small calculations. Today is the day of unity. No one should think that we are living in good times. We are going through bad days. There is an enemy surrounding us and coveting our gains. Today is the day of rebellion. Because today is the day of the Kurdish people's struggle for existence and non-existence. Because the tables have been set, the pens have been taken out and whatever we write today will defend our rights in the next century. If we do not struggle, we will have to live through these sufferings for another century. Therefore, my call to all Kurdish parties is to unite.”
