Everyone wins with agreement in Syria

NEWS CENTER - The agreement signed between the SDF and the interim team in Damascus is a preliminary step towards a democratic Syria. With the agreement, all ethnic and religious differences will be the main elements of Syria and will be partners in its governance.

The agreement signed between Mazloum Abdi, General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and President of the Syrian Interim team Ahmed al-Shara points to a new democratic era in Syria. The agreement reached in Syria, which has recently been at the top of the agenda with the Druze community declaring autonomy and the massacres against Alawites in coastal cities, guarantees that the conflicts and massacres will stop and every difference will live with its own originality.

The commissions to be formed for the realisation of the 8 articles in the text will work for one year.

In this context, if the articles in the text of the agreement are analysed one by one,

*Ensuring the rights of all Syrians to representation and participation in the political process and all state institutions based on competence, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.

With this article, all ethnic and religious groups in Syria become the owners and part of the central administration. At the same time, it imposes responsibility on everyone in terms of the future of the country, and each belonging will be able to take part in the state and assume responsibility.

*Recognizing the Kurdish component as an integral part of the Syrian state and guaranteeing its citizenship rights and all constitutional entitlements.

With this article, the Kurds, one of the essential elements of Syria, whose identity rights were taken away during the Assad regime, will regain all their rights. Their identity will be constitutionally guaranteed and they will be included in language, culture and admşnşstrative structures. As a result of the work of the commissions to be formed, education in their mother tongue, cultural rights will be secured and they will be able to govern themselves. The basic foresight here is to extend the democratic, free and egalitarian model of governance that the peoples of North and East Syria have established together to the whole country as Democratic Syria.

*Ceasefire implementation across all Syrian territories.

This article of the agreement aims to end the civil war that has been going on in Syria for 14 years and the occupations that have taken advantage of it. Here, first of all, the possible attacks of the Shara regime and its affiliated forces will be terminated. The recent massacres of the Druze and Alawite community will be held to account. On the other hand, the paramilitary groups under the auspices of Turkey will either lay down their arms and integrate into the administration or they will be deactivated due to their policies. On this occasion, Turkey will withdraw from the Syrian territory it has entered militarily, and the people of Afrin, Serekaniye and Gire Spi will return to their lands.

*Integration of all civil and military institutions of North and East Syria into the administration of the Syrian state, including border crossings, airports, and oil and gas fields.

The commission that will work in this context will deal with border security and strategic fields such as military, oil and gas. Since these strategic fields concern the Syrian people as a whole, the issues of how they will be integrated with the central government and how they will be shared will be resolved. As a result, all armed forces in Syria will become part of the Syrian army, while each people will be able to form self-government and internal order forces. This article, which was read in line with the message of the DEM Party İmralı delegation to Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February, addresses the security concerns expressed by Turkey. It also answers the question of whether the frequently voiced call to lay down arms binds the SDF. With this clause, the SDF is committed to becoming a part of the Syrian Army.

*Guaranteeing the return of all displaced Syrians to their towns and villages while ensuring their protection by the Syrian state.

Especially in Afrin, Serekaniye and Gire Spi, all those who were forcibly displaced from their lands are returning to their own lands. While the task of ensuring these returns is left to the Syrian state, the states that reached the agreement are expected to be the guarantors in addressing security concerns.

*Supporting the Syrian state's efforts in combating remnants of terrorism and all threats to its security and territorial integrity.

The task of protecting, democratising and ensuring the integrity of the territory and the state to which the Syrian people feel they belong and which they recognise is the duty of every social group living in Syria.

*Rejecting calls for division and all forms of hate speech or incitement aimed at sowing discord among the components of Syrian society.

In order to ensure unity in Syria, the aim is to reject hate speech and attempts to sow discord against all ethnic, religious and other different groups and to ensure that everyone is part of the country in their own colours.

*Establishing executive committees to work toward implementing the agreement before the end of the current year."

The commissions to be formed for the realisation of all these are planned to work until the end of the year and get results. This text, which is defined as a preliminary agreement between the Autonomous Administration and the Damascus Government, aims to create a final solution and a democratic Syria. While it is stated that the US, France and Saudi Arabia have been instrumental in this preliminary agreement, it is also stated that the main aim is to end the civil war and conflicts in the country and to eliminate Turkey's security concerns.

Although the war rhetoric on the lips of those circles who want to make peace in Turkey more difficult by pointing to the Syrian arena, the rhetoric of war on the lips of those who want to put stones in the call of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan to lay down arms and pave the way for democratic politics, which he framed as the "Call for Peace and Democratic Society", ends with the agreement. Turkey's border security will be left to the Syrian army, while the forces recognised by the legitimate government will take place in the interior.

With this agreement, in which the rights of not only Kurds but also Arabs, Turkmens, Armenians, Assyrians, Alawites, Christians, Yazidis and others are secured, all differences become the original owners and partners of Syria.
