RIHA - The only demand at the Newroz celebrated in Xelfetî district of Riha, the hometown of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, was the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.
Newroz was celebrated with enthusiasm with the participation of thousands of people in Xelfetî (Halfeti) district of Riha (Urfa), the hometown of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. From the beginning of the Newroz to the lighting of the fire and the last halay, the only demand in the area was the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. A poster of Abdullah Öcalan was unfurled in the area where slogans "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)" were frequently raised.

* Hours before the celebrations, hundreds of people coming to the Newroz area from rural neighbourhoods stopped to dance to Kurdish songs.
* The density of Peace Mothers and young people in the area attracted attention.
* Newroz enthusiasm reached its peak with the entrance of DEM Party Co-chair Tuncer Bakırhan and DBP Co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar.
