Hundreds of lawyers gathered in front of a courthouse in Istanbul on June 30 to protest a draft bill submitted to parliament by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
Samsun Bar Association President Kerami Gürbüz resigned from his post to protest the multiple bar system.
Protested by bar associations and foreseeing the establishment of more than one bar in a city, the bill has been submitted to the Parliamentary Speaker’s Office. Considering the number of its members, it will affect İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir Bars.
5 people, including HDP Pazarcık District Co-Chair Naci Kızıler, were detained in Maraş.
Stating that DTK is a democratic, social and a legitimate platform, HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan said: "The operation against DTK shows the the point hostility towards the Kurds reached. The operation aims to liquidate the democratic organization of the Kurds."
