DİYARBAKIR- Stating that he will be the voice of all others in the Parliament and Green Left Party Amed(Diyarbakır) MP candidate Azad Barış said: "We will hold accountable as Êzidîs, Alevis, Circassians and the peoples and beliefs that want to be isolated."
The Greens and the Left Future Party (Green Left Party) continue their election work without slowing down. There are many different names in the party's MP candidate list and these names represent different segments. One of these names is Azad Barış.
Barış, an Êzidî Kurd, was born in 1969 in the village of Zewra in Karacadağ, in the Wêranşar (Viranşehir) district of Riha(Urfa). Barış, who immigrated to Europe with his family when he was a child, completed his high school education in Freiburg, Germany. Continuing his university education at the University of Hamburg, Barış received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Department of Sociology at the University of Hamburg, and his doctorate in philosophy from Leuphana University. Barış, who participated in many exchange programs in England, America and Australia, worked as a lecturer in Intercultural Communication and Applied Cultural Studies at Leuphana University.
WORKED IN SOCIAL SCIENCE
Barış, who is involved in many projects related to minorities, especially Êzidîs, carries out studies in the field of social sciences, especially on intra-European integration, neoliberalism and socialization theories. Barış, whose articles and articles were published in many international newspapers and magazines, made politics in the German Left Movement and the Greens.
After the Shengal Massacre by ISIS on August 3, 2014, Barış started to engage in politics from the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), and was a member of the HDP Party Council and MYK for a long time. Barış, who served as HDP Co-Chairperson in charge of the press in the previous term, writes for Yeni Yaşam newspaper and Gazete Karınca. Seeing himself as an "autochthonous Şengalese", Barış speaks fluent German, English and Turkish, in addition to his native Kurdish.
Stating that his party is on the list of candidates representing the Yazidis, Barış said: “I am in the 10th place and I look at this issue from the number 10, we will definitely succeed in this job. Our primary goal is: We will invite Amedspor to invite 11 of the 12 MPs candidates and we will play the first match with them, but of course we will not exclude our other friend, we will make it 12-0. The biggest gain of these elections will be: We will bring goodness to this country, geography and peoples. I am very happy to take part in the new Parliament in the new 100 years, both as a Kurd, as Êzidî, and as a father and academician.”
COMBINATION OF THE PEOPLE
Stating that we will hold accountable not only as Kurds, but as peoples, Barış said: "We will hold to account the Êzidîs, Alevis, Circassians, and the peoples and beliefs that they want to isolate or even want to end. We have few rights left. The concept of being left behind is very important. We did not decrease on our own, we were left short because we were constantly wasted and massacred. The result we achieved as a result of these massacres is as follows; If we do not stand shoulder to shoulder, if we do not join hands, it is not possible for any of us to step into the next day more confidently.”
'WE WILL BE THE VOICE OF ALL OTHERS'
Stating that as a party, they are the voice of all others and that they will represent them in the Parliament, Barış said: “We are the voice of others, women who cannot walk freely on the streets, workers and laborers, we are against capital, so our name is HDP and now our name is Green Left. Our trees look alike. The branch of one is heading towards the other, and this tree will grow bigger and bigger. We are green because we are environmentalists, we are purple because we are women, we are blue because we are hopeful. We will respond to the toughest challenges in parliament and on the street."
